In this 4 hour workshop, you are invited to engage in a wide palette of touch, ranging from the soft and sensitive, to playful and firm ways of touching. We'll steadily build a solid foundation to safely and confidently explore stronger types of touch, to then extend the creative possibilities when partnering.Many of the ideas in this workshop originate from wrestling and Brazilian jiu-jitsu, but have been transformed to sit inside a contemporary dance practice. New movements, principles, and games will help build your competence across different types of touch so you can play freely and safely. Different concepts for applying touch in choreography and improvisation will be introduced. Finally, you'll explore how these practices can support your creative processes and lead to fun, bold and dynamic work.
This work is physical and playful at heart, so expect some friendly, light-hearted competition! The workshop will involve plenty of movement, so please bring your water bottles and wear comfortable clothes to move in.
Open to MOVERS, PHYSICAL PERFORMERS & DANCERS with over one year of experience, who are interested in exploring a touch-based practice.
