About this Event
World Wetlands Day is an environmentally related celebration, which started in the 1970's following the first Ramsar Convention. The Convention was set up to protect Wetlands of International Importance - our very own Walthamstow Wetlands is protected under the Ramsar Convention!
Join us on an out-of-hours guided tour around the reserve, led by a member of the London Wildlife Trust on site team, to learn about the heritage of the area, the diverse habitats around the site and some of the wildlife that can be seen. Discover why wetlands are so important, the different types and the threats they are facing, as well as about our current projects.
This is a gentle tour around the reserve on paths - there may be some gentle inclines so strong stout footwear is recommended. The tour will last approximately 1.5hrs and will be fully outdoors - so dress for the weather! If you have binoculars bring them along, but it’s not essential.
This event is aimed at adults aged 18+, but can be inclusive for young people aged 11 and above, who must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Further information will be sent out prior to the event.
All proceeds from this event enable London Wildlife Trust's mission of Nature recovery for a thriving city.
