Phenomenal Womxn Poetry Festival presents “Somapoetics: The Body As Archive The Future As Verse” Hosted by Dr. Felicia Ruthledge
About This Workshop: This Somapoetics workshop invites womxn writers to explore the body as a living archive of memory, culture, and possibility. Through gentle, accessible movement, breathwork, sound, and guided writing, participants will listen to what the body remembers and imagine what it longs to become. Rooted in Dr. Felicia L. Rutledge’s Joyous Just Dreaming framework, the workshop centers womxn, particularly Black, Indigenous, and womxn of color, in a supportive, consent-based space that honors lived experience and ancestral wisdom. Participants will leave with an original piece of writing, embodied storytelling tools, and renewed confidence in their voices as creators of more just and joyful futures.
About the Phenomenal Womxn Festival: The Phenomenal Womxn Poetry Festival is a bold, empowering 3-day celebration of womxn and femme voices taking up space in Las Vegas. Featuring workshops, powerful panels, curated open mics, and the first-ever all-womxn regional poetry slam to hit the city. Poets across genres — page, stage, experimental, and everything in between — will gather in the heart of the Arts District, activating beloved local spaces like Third Street, Taverna Costera, Suite 150, Analog Dope, and That Chapel. We’ll close the weekend with a special headlining performance from powerhouse poet Yesika Salgado, followed by an unforgettable final-stage slam where one poet will claim $3,000 and the title of 2026 Phenomenal Womxn Champion.
