Course leader:

is an artist, designer and tutor specialising in Hand Embroidery and is currently working at the Royal School of Needlework’s Embroidery Studio. She has embroidered for Alexander McQueen, Sanderson and Fromental, as well as working on private commissions and running embroidery workshops.

In 2023 she graduated from The Royal School of Needlework with a First Class BA(Hons) Degree in Hand Embroidery. Emily’s work often draws inspiration from nature, influenced by her childhood in rural Hampshire. Craftsmanship is at the heart of her practice; within her work she combines precision and skill with a passion for the historical decorative arts.

During her time studying at the Royal School of Needlework Emily was honoured to contribute to the embroidery of the Anointing Screen for King Charles III’s Coronation. Her graduate collection consisted of a series of three bespoke Hand Embroidered Wall Panels that took inspiration from the rich history and grounds of Chawton house, Hampshire. The project has received various awards including The Needle makers Award, Maderia Threads Sponsored Student 2023, Royal School of Needlework Raisedwork Award sponsored by the worshipful company of Haberdashers and the Worshipful Company of Borderers Associate Award at Hand and Lock The Prize 2023. These pieces went on to be display at Chawton House’s exhibition ‘Chawton in Stitches’ over the summer of 2024.
