About this Event

Event Description

As we celebrate Women’s History Month, CMEG will meet at the Joseph Regenstein Library at University of Chicago to walk through The exhibit explores the significant (but often silent) contributions women have made to printing and book production, as well as the social and economic drivers that both inhibited and encouraged their involvement.

After touring the exhibit, we’ll gather for a panel discussion with women who play different roles in Chicago’s museum field. The discussion will offer a look into the diversity of work that makes exhibitions possible, from curation to exhibit design, and from media to production—critical efforts that are sometimes not seen or fully understood by the public. The conversation will include a frank discussion of the state of the industry, what it’s like to advance in a career or promote a business, and strategies for thriving during a tumultuous era as a woman in the museum world.
