About this Event

Come and join us for a tour and a chat to explore London’s famous National Gallery from a gender perspective.
Ever asked yourselves these questions: Why so many nudes? Why so few women artists?
Our tours spotlight both celebrated and overlooked artworks, creating space for open dialogue around the gender-related themes they bring to light, from beauty standards and war to motherhood and beyond.

Together, we will put into practice our visual literacy skills and explore how these artworks connect to the images we encounter daily — in films, on billboards, and across social media.

This tour will be guided by María Gonzalez. María founded SHEROES COLLECTIVE (formerly Lon-art) in 2010, alongside her work as a teacher of modern languages. María has a BA in Art History, Postgraduate Diploma in Social & Cultural Anthropology, and Teaching Certificate in Art History from Complutense University, Madrid. She has undertaken courses in Education in Poverty Contexts and Education in Arts, Culture and Civic Responsibility with the Organization of Iberoamerican States. She has delivered multiple arts and education projects including exhibitions, panels, workshops, tours and artist CPD for a broad range of participants, in the UK and beyond.

All are welcome, regardless of gender, age, or background.

We can’t wait to hear your insights and reimagine the history of art with you!
