Anders Hagberg is a musical voyager, and in his group, he has assembled some of Scandinavia’s finest musicians in jazz and global music, associated with artists such as Mari Boine, Jon Hassell, Jon Balke, Billy Cobham, Marilyn Mazur, Avishai Cohen, Shakti, to name a few.Rooted in buoyant melody and intuitive interplay, the music features Hagberg’s distinctive voice on flutes and soprano saxophone. The quartet brings a textured sonic palette to these soundscapes, enriched by prepared piano, unique percussion sounds and other subtle textures, creating a nuanced, cinematic backdrop that holds the balance between sorrow, joy, and hope.
With Hope (2025) is Hagberg’s second album with his Nordic ensemble, following the acclaimed North (2020), which garnered glowing reviews across Europe.
