Begin or deepen your meditation journey with our Winter City Retreat, “The Essence of Meditation.” This retreat is perfect for anyone interested in creating a strong foundation in meditation. Over the course of this retreat, you will be introduced to ‘Lamrim’ – the stages of the path to enlightenment – a special series of meditations that guide us, step-by-step, to gradually increase our capacity for lasting inner peace and happiness.
Led by experienced meditation teacher Kadam Tim, each session will feature guided meditations and insights from “The Mirror of Dharma (with Additions)” by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche. Through these teachings, you will explore essential Buddhist practices arranged in an easy-to-follow progression, perfect for those beginning a new meditation practice or refreshing their current one.
The retreat sessions are accompanied by Buddhist prayers – a traditional method to receive inspiration for meditation. All sessions are guided and are suitable for all levels of experience.
This retreat is your chance to build an excellent foundation for your successful meditation practice for the year ahead.

About this retreat
This retreat is open to everyone, with no prior meditation experience needed. You are welcome to join us as you are—no special clothing is required. Most participants sit comfortably on chairs, though meditation cushions are also available.
The retreat is conducted in clear, accessible English and welcomes people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures. The sessions will be led by experienced meditation teacher Kadam Tim, who has been a student of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso for over 22 years.
To support a deeper experience, we will practice verbal retreat by keeping silent the first half of each day.
