When the Soul Remembers: A Concerts in the Dark Hypnosis Journey An immersive journey featuring live strings & a guided past-life regression w/ Certified Hypnotherapist Samantha Marvels
About this Event

What if music could unlock memories beyond the mind?

When the Soul Remembers is an immersive, candlelit Concerts in the Dark experience blending live string music, guided hypnosis, and deep listening—inviting you into a state where time softens, the thinking mind quiets, and something older begins to speak.

In darkness, you will be gently guided into a relaxed, inward-focused state by Samantha Marvels, a Certified Hypnotherapist whose approach is grounded, supportive, and deeply respectful of personal boundaries.

The hypnosis journey may include a past-life regression, inviting participants to explore what the soul may remember beyond this lifetime.

Within this experience, you’re invited to explore symbolic or intuitive memory in search of talents, gifts, or qualities that may support you in your life today. Some experience imagery or emotion, some gain quiet clarity, and some simply rest deeply. Remembering everything is not required. Experiencing anything specific is not expected.

The journey will be supported by live, original string music performed by award-winning Austin musicians Will Taylor and Tony Rogers.

This is not stage hypnosis.
You remain fully aware and in control at all times.
You may engage deeply, lightly, or simply listen and rest.

Though the journey is deeply personal, it unfolds within a quiet group container—held in collective presence, never analyzed, never shared, and always self-directed.

What to expect:

  • A fully darkened, candlelit space designed for comfort and safety
  • A gentle hypnosis journey led by a Certified Hypnotherapist
  • Live violin and cello creating a continuous, immersive soundscape
  • Time afterward to slowly return and re-orient

Come curious.
Come open.
Come exactly as you are.

For over 35 years, thousands of discerning experience-seekers have stepped into the imaginative world of Will Taylor, delighting in performances that blur boundaries, awaken the senses, and reveal music in unforgettable, unexpected ways.

Testimonials

"The music and setting was "other worldly"

I live in Austin & Love Will Taylor and his music. Even in a town like Austin where musicians are on every corner, Will Stands out With his unique collaborations and concerts, He truly is "One of a Kind." Thank you Will. Please keep your awesome and unique music coming!!!! YOU would be sorely missed were you to leave!!! -Pam B, Ph.D

Thanks for the unbelievable musical service. Will, you take us kicking and connecting with new people who love music and natural life! Then Tony captured the beauty of classical guitar, which for me was delightful, secret toe wiggling while lying on my mat, housed in dark AC while visually surrounded by elms and willows. The hands on energy touch upon request, was an amazing bonus. Can't get any better. Dr. Patty and Bob

Will, last night's show was magnificent. Now I remember why I felt at home when I came to Austin in 1980. There is something precious here, (Holy, actually) and you are a part of that. Thank you. Shara T.

The goal? Create subconscious beliefs that support you so you can live from a place of safety & expansion.

Will Taylor

Will Taylor is a violinist, composer, and musical dream-weaver who’s been threading strings through the Austin music scene for over two decades. He’s shared stages (and musical magic) with Willie Nelson, Pearl Jam, Gary Clark Jr., Shawn Colvin, Shiny Ribs, Guy Forsyth, and even the legendary Turtle Island String Quartet at Town Hall in New York City — just to name a few stops on his sonic journey.

Beyond the stage, Will is a devoted lover of the outdoors and the alchemy that happens when live music meets nature. Whether under oak trees, inside candle-lit rooms, or beneath a Texas full moon, his mission is simple: bring people together for life-shifting moments of connection, stillness, and sound.

A concert presenter for over 30 years, Will produced a legendary 2006 performance of The Beatles’ White Album, drawing over 1,600 fans across two shows and capturing the moment for broadcast radio. He’s a two-time Austin Music Award winner, a Best of Austin finalist in 2022, and a 2024 winner — proof that the magic still resonates.

He’s also an award-winning film composer for the thriller Protocol 7, extending his sound world from stage lights to the silver screen.

Tony Rogers

Tony is a cellist, educator, performer, arranger and composer.

He performs regularly with The Austin Piazzolla Quintet, The Waterloo Trio, Jenifer Jackson, the multi-genre group Strings Attached, performs weddings on weekends, and onstage with symphonies, playing 70 public performances per year, teaches a few hundred lessons and directs the Austin Cello Choir every week on Tuesday evenings for cellists of all levels. In his spare time he organizes chamber reading sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Concerts in the Dark all about?

Concerts in the Dark offers a unique and transformative way to experience acoustic music by reducing or completely eliminating light, giving the listener the opportunity to immerse themselves entirely in the experience.

This innovative series celebrates the purity and intimacy of acoustic music, creating an environment where every note, rhythm, and resonance takes center stage. By tuning out visual distractions, audiences are invited to engage their senses more deeply, fostering a profound connection with the music and its emotional core.

Most of our concerts include a short meditation at the beginning. At some events, guests bring blankets and/or pillows, and sit or lie on the floor to experience the music in a relaxing posture, while the musicians walk around the room.

👤 Are children welcome?

Kids are welcome! For this show, everyone needs a ticket but, anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Please keep in mind that this is an event where the focus is on the music, and might include meditation. So we value peace and an environment of non-disruption for all that are paying to have this experience. This isn't a club atmosphere where there is talking over the music. That being so, we do have a separate area where you can take the kids if they or you need a break.

🪑 What's the seating like?

The floor will be available for folks that bring yoga mats and/or pillows.

How dark is it actually? It will be lightly candlelit

Is this a sober event? YES! No Drugs/Alcohol, Smoking, No Phones, No Camera/Video, and No Scents please

Can I volunteer to get in free?

Yes, we have 4 positions for volunteers that begin 1 hour before the event and include helping set up the space, checking people in and cleaning up after the event is done

"Wow, we are so grateful to you for such an incredible evening. George and I were so high from the creative energy and the almost other-worldly sense of collaboration. What a divine life you have to be able to participate in such moments of group creativity. It made me jealous that my work world is so isolated. Ah well, it was just heavenly to be part of the experience. We can't wait for the next Strings Attached concert."

Sarah Bird, award winning author

"Once again, very magical and heart felt music, we can feel it when it comes from your hearts, because like tuning, it strikes our chords as well and moves us." - Dan

"The ensemble is fantastic. Each player is very gifted and adds to the whole. No one dominates or over plays. You are the best group I've heard in Austin in a long while." - Becky M.
