Ian Thomson, Professor of Accounting and Sustainability, University of Dundee

Ian Thomson is a Professor of Accounting and Sustainability at the University of Dundee, with extensive experience in academia and prior roles at Birmingham Business School, University of Strathclyde, and Heriot-Watt University. He is a renowned expert in responsibility, sustainability, and accountability, with over 30 years of research spanning various topics including cleaner technology implementation, stakeholder engagement, climate change, and sustainable development indicators. Ian is actively involved in numerous projects such as carbon accountability and operationalising the SDGs for businesses. He has collaborated with organizations like Business in The Community, served as an expert reviewer for the IPCC, and advised governmental bodies and large corporations on sustainability strategies. His contributions extend to board memberships in several charities and recognition as BAFA Distinguished Academic of the year in 2019. Prior to academia, he gained experience as a management accountant for NHS Scotland and BBC Scotland.


Poppy Laila - Personal Development and Inclusion Manager, Kaplan

Poppy's career in education and apprenticeship has seen her involvement in coordinating additional learning needs provisions to maximise equity for all learners by removing any barriers and making learning as inclusive as possible. Additionally, she is the current careers lead at Kaplan, a qualified Mental Health First Aider, safeguarding representative at the London center and chairs the EDI champions at Kaplan to promote equality, diversity and inclusivity in all areas of education and apprenticeship at Kaplan.


Jenny Pelling - Director of Apprenticeship Development and Diversity at Kaplan Financial

Jenny's career in education and apprenticeships has seen her involvement in designing programmes and enhancing provision for learners and employers' benefit. She is the strategic lead for careers and personal development for apprentices, is a qualified Mental Health First Aider, as well as being responsible for governance. She is part of the Apprenticeship Leadership Team and the EDI Steering Group.


Who is this suitable for?

This is suitable for Kaplan apprentices, Kaplan UK students, Kaplan staff, and any employers who want to join. We have a limit of available places, which will be allocated on a first come first-served basis. We look forward to seeing you all there!

The link will also be sent again as a reminder two days, and 2 hours, before the webinar. This event will be run as a Zoom meeting with two way video and audio. The session will be recorded.
