About this Event
REGISTRATION AVAILABLE BEGINNING MAY 2ND
Chicago for Chicagoans is excited to bring back our 2.5-hour walk of the West Lakeview area, with special guest collaborator Walter Kiefer! Walter is a transportation & industrial history enthusiast who spent a decade living in Lakeview, discovering all the wonderful gems of forgotten history that line its streets.
Beginning at the NW corner of Addison & Halsted, the tour will cover the history, architecture, and landmarks of Lakeview's western side -- from atypical historic construction on Alta Vista Terrace, to a long-gone seminary, tied houses, railroads, glamorous terracotta, and relics of the industry that once dotted the neighborhood. The afternoon will end at Sheffield's, where participants are encouraged to have a meal with the group. Come learn something new about your place in space!
Chicago for Chicagoans happily exists as a "pay-what-you-can" tour service. A suggested tip of $10-20 per person is always appreciated, but reviewing us on Yelp, liking us on Facebook, spreading the word, and attending future tours tells us how much you love us too! We are a certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit that creates inclusive walking tours by & for Chicago residents, designed to represent the histories of all Chicagoans. Donate online fee-free at chicagoforchicagoans.org/donate.
