Overview
You don't need to climb a Munro to get a great view!
The Northern Pentlands rise sharply on the southern side of the Edinburgh bypass, affording great views in all directions in clear weather. This walk starts to climb immediately from Torphin, visits two reservoirs, goes through woodland and crosses moorland and takes in 4 wee hills, reaching 454m/1489ft on the summit of Capelaw which has a lovely plateau walk along its length.
Circular. This is not a long walk but does exercise the hill legs. The hill slopes are grassy and could be slippy after rain. Poles would be useful.
At the end of the walk, there is the possibility of a visit to the Tipereth garden and cafe. This is by arrangement. Please let the walk leader know by the evening of Sunday 31st May if you wish to join this visit.

Please note: the new toilet block at Bonaly (put up early last year) is still not open due to some hitch. There are no public toilets at Torphin. The nearest are in Colinton Village, 302 Colinton Rd, Edinburgh EH13 0LE
