About this Event
A relaxed, creative introduction to weaving with an experimental, sculptural twist.
Working on a mini loom, we’ll explore how incorporating soft wire into your warp can transform weaving into something tactile and three-dimensional. You’ll learn some basic weaving techniques before embarking on making a piece with an intuitive, exploratory approach.
Working with a mixture of fibres and materials, we’ll play with texture, colour, and composition, noticing how the addition of wire allows the work to hold shape, bend, and become subtly sculptural.
This is a space to experiment freely, follow your instincts, and discover new possibilities within your weaving practice. A chance to step away from rigid structures and explore an expressive, materials-led process.
Open to beginners as well as those with some experience who’d like to loosen up their practice and try a different approach to weaving.
All materials, plus herbal tea and biccies are provided - just bring yourself and an open mind!
This workshop is a part of Hove Textile Space's workshop programme for the Artist Open Houses festival across Brighton and Hove this May. Check here for the rest of our programme!
Please do book early where possible!
Booking early helps independent facilitators like me to organise events in a cost and energy-efficient manner, which gives us more time and headspace to make the workshops fantastic for you.
