Do you think you have an interest in weaving on a floor loom? Discover the magic, fun and endless possibilities of weaving on a floor loom in this five day beginning weaving class. The class is a combination of our Beginning Weaving 101 and 201 classes. Taking the two classes in succession allows you, the new weaver, to gain more comfort with winding a warp and dressing a loom. You will wind two warps and complete two projects in this one week class. The first project will be a simple plain weave scarf in a chunky weight yarn. You will be introduced to some of the basics of weaving, learning some basic weaving terminology, parts of a loom and how they work, learning to wind a warp, dress a loom and read a draft. The scarf will be completed in the first two days of camp.
For the second project, days 3-5, you will take the next step in your weaving adventure using a finer cotton weaving yarn and learning how to make a warp with multiple colors and multiple threadings. You will weave 4-5 fingertip towels in twill, each with a different treadling sequence and therefore a different pattern. You will build on your knowledge of reading and interpreting weaving drafts and will learn more about various weave structures as well as how to hemstitch.
