Dates: Mon 7/20 - Tues 7/21, 1pm - 4pm each day. Sales end: Jul 13, 5pm. Ticket: $70 + Eventbrite fee. Instructor: Abby Langdon Materials fee: $30. Skills Needed: Enthusiastic beginners are welcome, basic hand-sewing experience is helpful . Class Limit: 6. Class Location: 1st floor. Minimum Age: 13 years old.
Join Abby from abbydid to learn how to make a modern piece of headwear fit for race day, the Met gala, or a royal wedding using a variety of millinery techniques.
Day 1: Blocking the Straw Base
We will form the platter-shaped base for the hat by blocking sinamay straw.
Day 2: Mounting and Trimming
We will mount the platter onto a headband or other method of wearing it as a headpiece, then will move on to creating the decorative trimmings that will complete the look.
Abby will be in touch ahead of time to get color choices for straw, which she will order for the students, as well as get an idea for what kind of trimmings each person is looking for.
Minimum age for registration is 13 years old. A minor must be accompanied by a registered adult.
Supplies to Bring:
- Reading glasses for close up work, apron if desired.
- $30 materials fee payable to the instructor at start of class. Cash or check only accepted.

If you are not feeling well, please contact the instructor instead of coming to the class. On a case-by-case basis, we may be able to reschedule you into a future class or provide a make-up lesson. Ticket fees are not normally refunded.
Depending on the CDC Guidelines for Hamilton County at the time the class is held, a mask may be required. If so, you will be notified before the first class.
Unless specifically stated, Weavers Guild classes are designed for ages 18 and above. On a case-by-case basis, a minor may be permitted to register for a class but must be accompanied by a registered adult who agrees to assist the minor during the class.
Fees are non-refundable. Your fee will only be refunded if the class is canceled or changed to a different date. Three registrations are required for a class to be held. Students will be notified before the start date if a class is canceled due to an insufficient number of students. Eventbrite processing and credit card payment fees will not be refunded if a student cancels for any reason.
