About this Event
We Are Free, No Longer Bound The Musical is the story of Juneteenth told with cultural and historical integrity. Audiences will journey from the West Coast of Mother Africa, through the ending of enslavement in the United States, and on to the victory and celebration of Juneteenth becoming a national holiday. Through dance, drumming, song, jazz, spoken word, and rap, viewers will further understand the sacrifices that were made to end slavery in this country, as they experience the depth and breadth of the invaluable contributions of arts and culture made to the world via the African American experience, with a cast of 35 people who range in age from 8 to 80.
Our goal is to provide audiences with an historical overview of the African-American journey to the triumph of Juneteenth becoming a national holiday, which will facilitate a sense of cultural awareness, belonging, gratification, and a cross-cultural experience that will provide a greater understanding of the sacrifices that were made to end slavery in the United States of America.
