Special Guest: Merlyn Chesterman

We’re thrilled to feature Merlyn, a British woodblock printmaker based on the Southwest coast of the United Kingdom. A member of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers and co-author of books on woodblock printing, Merlyn's passion for the medium began in Hong Kong, where she first encountered woodcuts used as window panes in the Mongolian border region. Her work draws inspiration from the natural world, channeling emotions like awe, fear, and delight into her craft.

During the session, Merlyn will:

Share her journey as a printmaker and the daily rituals in her studio.
Break down one of her iconic woodblock prints, revealing the inspiration and techniques behind it.
Discuss what guests can expect during a VAWAA with her, including hands-on play and experimentation.
