WHAT TO EXPECT:
An Immersive Experience
Under the direction of Chicago's original City Pop DJ, Van Paugam, prepare to journey through an exclusive collection of Japanese vinyl records spanning the golden years of 70s and 80s. Expect rare grooves ranging from the shimmering city pop to the soulful strains of Showa kayo, each record chosen for its historical resonance and sonic excellence. An explanation of each era provided for cultural context of the musical experience.
Curated Culinary Delights
Complimentary bento box and themed-cocktail will be provided by Kamehachi. Contents forthcoming. Kamehachi is Chicago's oldest sushi establishment, with decades of experience in crafting an authentic tasting experience for customers for more than 40 years. Their regular menu will also be available. Indulge in authentic Japanese cuisine, thoughtfully prepared to complement the night’s auditory and visual narrative. Our culinary partners have crafted a menu that honors traditional flavors while offering a modern twist, perfectly paired with a selection of themed cocktails designed to evoke the spirit of Japan’s vibrant nightlife. Note: Vegetarian and N/A options available. Please indicate when buying a ticket.
A Visual Tribute
Enhancing the atmosphere, retro Japanese films and anime will be projected throughout the venue. This curated visual journey serves as a meditative counterpart to the vinyl selections, creating a multisensory homage to Japan’s cinematic and artistic heritage.
