About this Event
Inspired by the current Egyptian exhibition at the John Soane Museum I am here reinstating an updated version of my Egypt in London guided walk, originally created to coincide with the Tutankhamun exhibition that was at the Saatchi Gallery back in 2019-20.

The pharaohs and their followers believed that the body dies twice; once when the mortal body ceases to function, and then again after the last person speaks your name for the final time. But I wonder if they foresaw how their designs would also transcend time?
Architects and artists have for centuries been plundering Egypt, cherry-picking from the wonderful mix of beauty, geometry, iconography and craftsmanship. Evidence of this can be seen on the streets above and around us, and in various art forms.
This guided walk takes us through the streets of Soho and Holborn to look at some interesting architecture and innotave businesses. Hear the stories behind the façades, from to music and the movies to art and artisans, antiques and the afterlife. You'll see temples, obelisks and a a few pharaohs – and we might even dance like Egyptians(bring a handful of sand with you!).
- We start a few minutes from Oxford Circus. The specific meeting place will be clearly described in words via email after purchase – please see the FAQs below
- 2hrs / 1.5 miles (2km) max
- A second route from Embankment to Oxford Circus to is also available and is often scheduled on the same day before lunch.

My guiding style is inclusive, open and friendly. I design and research every tour myself – in fact, the research never ends. The walks and talks I offer are all on subjects that intrigue me and each one highlights a different facet of my personality. I am particularly interested in the architecture of our ever-changing streets and the little details on and above them. For more information, please visit www.janeslondonwalks.com
