Please save the dates below and join us for the next book club series centering DEIB. This year we will be reading Not to Late. The first 10 registrants will receive a free book.
We will meet virtually on January 8th, February 19th, March 19th and April 23rd at 6:30pm.Our DEIB Book Club Series will be hosted by Lizzy Chandler and Ninderjit Gill (WAEYC Executive Director). Lizzy Chandler (she/her) is a nature preschool teacher at a licensed Outdoor Nature Based center near Bellingham, WA. She volunteers as a member-at-large on the WAEYC governing board, working on professional development projects like the 2024 Climate Justice Institute for Early Childhood Educators and through the DEIB&J committee. Lizzy also enjoys knitting and sitting in the sun with her dog.
Outcomes
1. Reflecting on how children's books can be windows, mirrors and doors for children.
2. Explaining and reflecting with authors about how their writing process called for more BIPOC stories of and about childhood.
3. Describing the importance of children's books that represent racial, ethnic and linguistic diversity.
This fully virtual training will be offered via zoom.
This presentation will be recorded and participants will be provided access to the recording for 30 days following the presentation.
Participants will be able to earn STARS credit - you must remain on the entire live training in order to receive credit.
We will NOT be offering translation for this virtual training.
