From the oldest living culture on earth comes a performance of extraordinary power, meaning and beauty. We are proud to announce that the internationally acclaimed Wadumbah Dance Group, led by respected Elder James Webb, will present a deeply moving cultural performance at the Western Australian Dragon Boat Festival 2026.Wadumbah carries ancient Dreaming stories passed down through generations — stories of Country, creation, spirit and connection. Through traditional Bibbulmun Aboriginal dance and music, these Dreaming stories are brought vividly to life with strength, authenticity and purpose. The resonant call of the didgeridoo, the hypnotic rhythm of tapping sticks and the presence of artists in traditional ceremonial dress combine to create an experience that is both grounding and exhilarating.
This is far more than a performance. It is a living cultural expression — guided by Elders, shared with pride and authenticity, and offered with cultural integrity — giving audiences a rare opportunity to connect with one of the world’s oldest continuing cultures and the enduring stories of the Dreaming.
A FREE ENTRY, family-friendly and inclusive event, the Western Australian Dragon Boat Festival 2026 celebrates culture, community and shared experience, with Wadumbah’s performance standing as a powerful and meaningful centrepiece.
Proudly presented by the Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour Traders Group, Nella Fitzgerald Events and the City of Fremantle,
in association with Dragon Boating WA.
