As rhythmic drums thunder and dragon boats glide powerfully across the harbour, families are invited to be part of the action at the WA Shipwrecks Museum — an exciting feature of the Western Australian Dragon Boat Festival.Join us for a vibrant, hands-on children’s workshop that brings the spirit of the festival to life.
Young creatives aged 4–10 years will design and build their very own Chinese Dancing Dragon, inspired by centuries-old traditions symbolising strength, unity and good fortune. Using bold colours, dynamic shapes and plenty of imagination, children will craft a dragon full of movement and personality — ready to be proudly paraded along the harbour.
Set within the historic maritime surrounds of the museum, this free activity is the perfect complement to the high-energy racing outside — offering families a moment to create, celebrate and fully immerse themselves in the festival atmosphere.
