A soulful, passionate musician who deftly blends soaring vocals with formidable piano skills.Acclaimed singer/songwriter Vonda Shepard has sold over 12 million albums, won two Golden Globes, two Emmy Awards, two Screen Actors Guild awards and is most notably the writer and performer of the original “Searchin’ My Soul,” the theme song for "Ally McBeal." She also holds the Billboard prize for selling the most television soundtracks in history.
Vonda began playing clubs at the age of 14 and was signed to Reprise Records at 24, where her “Don’t Cry Ilene” became a VH1 hit topping out at No. 11. In 1986, Vonda had a major pop hit singing “Can’t We Try” in a duet with Dan Hill that made it to No. 6 on the pop charts. It was during these early years as a successful indie performer that she toured with such luminaries as Rickie Lee Jones, Al Jarreau and Jackson Browne as either back-up singer or keyboardist. Vonda’s most demanding work was on "Ally McBeal" as music producer, where her hit theme song, “Searchin’ My Soul” reached No. 16 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart. For nearly five years she produced over 500 songs for artists like Al Green, Sting, Randy Newman, Robert Downey Jr., Jon Bon Jovi, Gladys Knight, Chubby Checker, Barry Manilow and many more.
