Learn how to extend the life of your clothing by incorporating hand stitching techniques like appliqué, embroidery, and sashiko into repairs. This workshop is perfect for beginners or those wanting to rediscover and build on forgotten skills to transform worn or damaged garments. Along with gaining practical sewing techniques, participants will be inspired to add personality and meaning to their clothes in creative ways while embracing a more sustainable approach to fashion!
What you’ll get:
* All workshop materials (including Sashiko needle and thread)
* Basic Visible mending notes
* Ideas and inspiration from not only your facilitator Elise, but from the people sitting in the room with you - you’ll find this part invaluable!
What to bring:
* Garments (jeans, shirts, jumpers, cardigans, socks) or home textiles (tea towel or tablecloth) that have rips or holes that need repairing.
* Embellishments (buttons, patches, fabrics etc) that are meaningful to you - not a requirement.
* Your imagination and enthusiasm!
Elise is the founder of Hoop Hoop Hooray. After sewing and crafting for over 25 years, Elise turned her lifelong hobby into a small business in 2018. Around that time, she fell in love with hand embroidery and began to run stitching and craft workshops from her home in Greenwood.
On Saturday our weekly farmer's market will be in full swing during your workshop, so it's worth arriving a little early to check out the stalls and maybe buy some fresh produce.
