About this Event
Join us for sound meditation crafted by Lesley Kaye and Stewart Shepherd, who will guide you into an afternoon of deep listening and inner stillness - where sound becomes a pathway to healing and harmony.
Experience immersive soundscapes generated by the Earth and Sun gongs, resonant tones of singing bowls and drone explorations with modular synthesis. This journey is designed to support whole-body rest through explorations of the intersection of sound and meditative states of consciousness.
Lesley Kaye is a composer and sound artist whose work centers on creating sonic environments for deep listening and meditation.
Currently pursuing a PhD, her research explores how sound can elicit meditative states of consciousness. This work builds on her Masters, which investigated an adolescent’s response to meditation.
With over ten years of experience facilitating sound meditation sessions in her local community, Lesley also leads fortnightly sessions for adolescents at the school where she teaches physics.
Stewart Shepherd is a sound artist exploring drone as a tool for meditation. He crafts evolving generative patches that support improvised works created in response to the experience of the listener.
Their explorations of sound design aim to create immersive soundscapes that foster full-body relaxation and inner stillness, through the transformative potential of sound and meditation.
Bring a yoga mat and any cushions you require to be comfortable. You may also like to bring an eye mask to reduce the level of ambient light. Upon request, we can also provide a folding chair for your comfort.
Arrival from 1.15pm for a 1.30pm start. Please note that doors will close at 1.30pm once the performance starts.
