The concert is part of the Dual Violins World Peace Prayer Tour 2026 – “A Prayer for Peace”, organized within the framework of the Violins for Peace initiative led by Mr. Minoru Watanabe, member of the Executive Committee. The program features two historic instruments with profound historical significance:
The Hiroshima Hibaku Violin, which survived the atomic bombing in 1945.
The Holocaust Violin, belonging to Waldemar (Walter) Better, who perished in Auschwitz.
Through music, this project seeks to preserve the memory of the tragedies of the Second World War and promote a universal message of peace. Hiroshima and Auschwitz represent two different dimensions of the horrors of war: the devastation caused by nuclear weapons and the persecution driven by human hatred. By bringing these two violins together in concert, the project conveys a powerful message: “Never again should war or persecution happen anywhere in the world.”
During the tour, these instruments are performed in cities across Europe connected to this history, inviting audiences to reflect, remember, and unite in a shared prayer for peace through music.
