About this Event
Vinylsessions – Wednesday 8th April, Queen & Greatest Hits II, we really push the boundary on our audio menu for the evening! Stepping aside from our usual vintage heavy duty Sony/Pioneer/HK etc! Yes, genuine high-end Realistic? This is going to be an experience!!!
For our April event we present Queen - Greatest Hits II - released on 28 October 1991 one month before Freddie Mercury’s death, the album consisted of Queen's biggest hits between 1981 and 1991, from the UK chart-topper "Under Pressure" to "The Show Must Go On", we rock through such classics as Radio GaGa, A Kind of Magic, I Want to Break Free & One Vision.
This album reached number one on the UK Album Chartand is the 10th best seller in the UK album chart with sales of 3.9 million copies as of 2014. Worldwide sales are in excess of 25 million worldwide so you could certainly say its sold well!
As usual the fun starts at 7.30pm, Graham Chalmers gives us a full back story on both album and artist before playback in full around 8.00pm ish, our usual raffle and of course a couple of drinks intervals as this is a double album! Mike is back from the USA now (probably with more Realistic gear!) and has a great video show planned.
The evenings audio menu is totally different – a specially imported early 1980s Realistic STA-2300 Monster Receiver – It’s a big one with 240 watts RMS! 10 Band Realistic EQ Driving Realistic Mach 1 Speakers, Realistic LAB Series Turntable, total cost 46 years ago was well in excess of £1000+ so very rare in the UK!
Every penny raised goes to the HHCC for our Harrogate SCBU project, thanks to you all we are now at around £7,500 – 75% of our £10,000 target.
Tickets are £7.00 + Eventbrite booking fee or to pay £7 at the door please email [email protected]
