Missing link between Nirvana and Sun Ra, the collaboration between Delphine Joussein, Rafaëlle Rinaudo and Blanche Lafuente aims at pushing their instruments beyond their limits, with the enthusiasm of a mad scientist in front of his vials. Flute, harp, drums: a rare combination that this trio turns upside down. In the wake of John Zorn’s experiences on the borders of jazz and noise, Nout imagines its music as a scenario with surprising twists: we believe to be Ellen Ripley in Alien but we find ourselves in Indiana Jones; we start with our eyes shut on the red seat of a movie theater and we end up rocking in a moshpit.
NOUT was laureate JAZZMIGRATION #7 in 2022.
NOUT was finalist at Jazz à la Défense Jazz festival 2022; Delphine Joussein won the Instrumentalist Prize.
NOUT won the Zenith Award 2023-2024!�European tour: The jury commented: “This trio shows a very high level of creativity and originality, with the unusual line-up of flute, electric harp and drums. They can be extremely vigorous and energetic, while still maintaining a complexity and richness in textures and details. Psychobillyjazz 3 covers both the band name & genre designation of this new trio, which with astonishing naturalness from the very beginning in early 2024 has been practicing, recording upcoming albums & already played concerts during the Copenhagen & Aarhus Jazz Festival respectively.
Psychobillyjazz 3 consists of alto saxophonist, keyboardist & punk jazz legend TS Høeg & the two young talented & diligently working hybrid musicians in guitarist Halfdan Stefansson & drummer Johannes Jacobsen, who both make their own groups & another one together in the neorock trio Bending Backwards.
In any case, Psychobillyjazz 3 hits with a revitalizing force in the narrow pocket of discharges from subsets of both jazz & rock, but more precisely between heaven & hell, whose span precisely fills this lack on the Danish scene.
