Verbal Gerbil returns! We're back after the Christmas break to provide you with some more special spoken word memories.
Verbal Gerbil is a live literature evening where performers are accompanied by a live improvised jazz musician courtesy of Footprints Jazz.
Each month we also host a special guest to round off the evening.
VG celebrates lyrical expression in all its forms and we've hosted poets, comedians, rappers, electronic sound artists, folk troubadors and storytellers.
This month to kick off our winter season we have:
Sarah Adams.
As a fresh face in the Northern comedy scene, don’t be fooled by Sarah’s naïve appearance, her eccentric, often dark style of dry humour has surprised and delighted audiences. Born and raised in Hull, Sarah focuses her comedy on her upbringing as well as the strange fascinations she has developed throughout her life. Sarah is low energy with her delivery being almost a monologue. Sarah sometimes comes armed with a fluffy notebook, taking to the stage like the shy kid in school having to read for the first time, the audience rarely knows what they’re about to witness. Sarah’s low key stage presence requires concentration, but the rewards are big with some high quality and genuinely original material. Regardless of your age or where you are from, watching Sarah perform will always guarantee a laugh and even better you don’t have to wait long between laughs
