Looking for just the right inspiration for writing or drawing? Join Big River Bindery's Andrew Huot for a day making a book filled inside and out with decorative and Heritage Japanese papers. Each set of pages in this hardcover book will be separated by colourful, decorative Heritage Washi .
In this workshop, you'll learn traditional methods of hard-cover book construction, so you can make more at home. Finished book, 5 x 7"
This workshop is beginner friendly! All paper, tools, and other supplies will be provided*.
Participants are asked to bring the following:
- a notebook (oh, the irony) and pen
- an apron, or wear studio clothes
- your lunch!
*If you have your own bookbinding tools (X-acto knife, metal ruler, bone folder, awl, sharp scissors, bookbinding needles) feel free to bring them. Please make sure any tools you bring are clearly marked with your name. Thank you!
Ticket price is $140.00, plus Eventbrite fees and HST for total of $158.20
About Andrew Huot:
Andrew Huot is the creative force behind Big River Bindery.
He is a highly accomplished bookbinder, conservator, and book artist.
Andrew has an MFA in Book Arts & Printmaking from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and an undergraduate degree in Printmaking from Portland State University. He exhibits his artwork widely and is held in collections across the country, from the Art Institute of Chicago to Yale University.
Now returned to his Canadian roots, Andrew practices his profession and teaches out of his beautiful studio, Big River Bindery, in Scarborough.
