About this Event
Untold Cancer Stories Live is a series of events hosted by Black Women Rising and supported by Gilead Sciences, to tell the untold stories around cancer in women of colour.
Each event is a free, informal panel discussion, Q&A and networking event, where we will hear from those with lived and professional experience of cancer.
Untold Cancer Stories Live will address and raise awareness around challenges, support and the overall experience of women of colour with various cancers, so we can all be better informed and equipped. They will serve as informal spaces where cancer patients, medical professionals and others can come together to discuss openly.
Untold Cancer Stories Live: Family, Friends & Carers is the third event in the series. Cancer doesn't just affect the person diagnosed - it has a knock-on effect on those around them. At Untold Stories Live: Family, Friends & Carers we will discuss; the experience of family, friends and carers, available support, and vital knowledge to enable us as individuals and communities to better support our loved ones with diagnoses, reduce stigma and isolation and to be better informed and supported ourselves. All are welcome, whether or not you or someone you know has a diagnosis.
This event will be hosted by `Nimco Ali.

About Black Women Rising
Black Women Rising is the award winning programme from UK registered charity The Leanne Pero Foundation. We support women of colour through every step of their cancer diagnosis and support efforts to educate, raise awareness, and influence policy that aims to provide equitable and accessible cancer care for women of colour in the UK.
Despite advances in cancer care, women of colour continue to face significant disparities in diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes. Together, we must keep raising awareness and pushing for much-needed change.
Events such as Untold Stories are a way for us to get together, inform ourselves, meet others and better support women of colour on their cancer journeys.
About Gilead Sciences
At Gilead, we are relentlessly committed to advancing transformative therapies for the most serious diseases, delivering an exponentially positive impact on health.
For more than three decades, we have combined scientific rigor with a deep sense of purpose to improve health outcomes and reimagine care. Our work spans more than 35 countries with a focus on three therapeutic areas: virology, oncology, and inflammation, where unmet medical needs remain greatest.
Importantly, our focus extends beyond medicine — because innovation means little if it does not reach those who need it most. Through partnerships, licensing programs, and local collaborations, we expand access to life-saving medicines across the globe.
From individual patients to whole populations, we’re committed to delivering healthier futures for people and communities worldwide.
