Unpacking a Case: Strategies for Child Brain Injury Recovery

In this half day event we are going to use a case study to explore how, why and when different professionals get involved in the recovery journey of children with Acquired Brain Injuries. We will demonstrate how true collaboration can bring results that alleviate stressors from the family and enable injured children have a fuller recovery.

The training event will be followed by a sit-down curry dinner over drinks and provide attendees ample opportunities for networking.

All profits from the event will be donated to Child Brain Injury Trust to support the great work they do supporting children and their families.

Panel 1: Jenny's story – Litigation, Education & Capacity

Our first session will introduce the case study through the eyes of the multi-disciplinary team that has been asked to support the family following diagnosis. The team will explore issues around education, capacity and injury litigation and what needs to be put in place early on to help the client return to the family home, go back to school and start adjusting to an altered daily reality.

Panel Members: Tim Jones , Sarah Palmer, Annabelle Vaughan ( Enable Law), Jim Hirschmann (3PB Barristers), Sharon Machin (CBIT)

Panel 2: Case Management & Rehabilitation

This panel explores the critical role of case managers in early intervention and supporting clients through rehabilitation. Topics include navigating the EHCP process, creating individual care plans, and support with schools and housing. The discussion also covers various types of therapy (OT, Physio, Speech & Language & Communication), and the importance of family and sibling support. Future considerations include planning for transitions to secondary school and ongoing therapy as clients approach adolescence. The panel emphasises comprehensive planning, funding, and family involvement in ensuring effective rehabilitation and care.

Panel Members: Jo Bamberger (Bush & Co), Anna Jones (Bush & Co), Sharon Machin (CBIT), Stephanie Doar (Bush & Co)

The event will be followed by a networking curry dinner.
