Our free family-friendly festival is a great day out with hands-on science experiments, creative sessions, inspiring talks and performances!
About this Event

Join us for a jam-packed day of inspiring talks, hands-on science activities, creative sessions, performances, heritage tours, and the chance to meet with our staff, students and community partners.

With over 60 interactive community fair stalls there’s something for everyone! From poetry to physics, music to medicine and computing to creative writing, there’s loads to discover and do – with activities on offer for all ages.

Together we’ll explore what makes for a greener, healthier and fairer world for everyone.

Uncover the mysteries of the human body from top to toe as we take a closer look at our hands, hearts and minds. Step into a world of virtual reality and play with our robot friends. Learn the art of calligraphy and get crafty as we explore what makes each of us special and different.

Take part in our Bee Curious programme of engaging talks and performances

  • - Dr Ryan Devlin explore how we can use light to make the world around us more visible.
  • - Dr Doron Cohen and Dr Stacey McKnight take you on an interactive deep dive into the psychology behind ‘The Traitors.
  • - Join Bethany Dean and Finn Baverstock from the Herpetology team at the Manchester Museum for a fascinating journey into the world of frogs.
  • - Join Dr Sarah Crowther to discover how NASA’s OSIRIS-REx mission to the asteroid Bennu is helping researchers at The University of Manchester uncover Bennu’s remarkable 4.5-billion-year story.
  • - We welcome this year’s winners of our annual Schools Poetry Competition to perform their work at this special prize giving ceremony.
  • - Musician Godfrey Pambalipe from Afrocats will lead a fun and interactive drumming session full of rhythm and creativity.

Pop along to our university community allotment, plant sunflower seeds and find out how biodiversity helps to keep our air healthy.

And then there’s our ever-popular where you can expect fantastic colour changes, flashes and the occasional bang - get ready to hold on to your hats!

Our Universally Manchester Festival is taking place on our Oxford Road campus and is free and open to everyone.
