Opening Friday, May 3, 2024, — the soft technology of your poems split — s My body into 18: secreting,100 Stanzas ——— That Bow TOWARD no moons is a project by artist Kameelah Janan Rasheed, inaugurating Ulises's 2024 exhibition program at Studio 105 at Ray Philly. We'll have drinks by Two Robbers, music by Mario Cotto, and good times abound!
A self-described “learner,” Rasheed grapples with the poetics-pleasures-politics of Black knowledge production, information technologies, and modes of [un]learning.
Rasheed’s exhibition will focus on the erotics of play during the reading, writing, and publishing processes. The title is repurposed from a text hidden under a railing in Rasheed’s recent exhibition at the KW Institute of Contemporary Art in Berlin, Germany. Taking a nod from the mythological archetype of the trickster, this show offers several scores or invitations for play as a reader, writer, and publisher using dance notation, stagecraft, and randomizers.
If you can't make the opening, Studio 105 and the adjoining Ulises bookshop are open weekly, Wednesday through Sunday from 12-6 PM starting May 4.
