🌾 Join us for a cozy December night crafting the Christmas spider, a traditional Ukrainian ornament made of straw.
The pavuk—or “spider”—was hung from ceiling beams or windows to bring luck and prosperity to the home. Light as air, it moves gently with every breath of wind, casting beautiful shadows that resemble a web, hence the name.
In Ukrainian homes of the past, families saved the best stalks from the harvest to weave didukhs, angels, and spiders during the quiet winter evenings. Today, this craft is being lovingly revived—a return to simple earth materials and the warmth of tradition.
At the workshop, you will:

🔹 Create your own straw spider to adorn your home this Christmas

🌾 Запрошуємо на затишний грудневий вечір, щоби власноруч створити різдвяного павука — традиційну українську прикрасу із соломи.
Павук — легкий, майже невагомий, його підвішували до сволока чи на вікно, щоб принести в оселю удачу та добробут. Від найменшого подиху повітря він починає повільно рухатися, кидаючи чарівні тіні, схожі на павутину, звідси й назва.
У давнину українські родини берегли найкращі соломинки ще зі жнив, щоб узимку, у тихі вечори, плести дідухів, янголів та павуків. Сьогодні це ремесло відроджується, ми повертаємося до природних матеріалів і теплоти традицій.
На майстер-класі ви:

🔹 Попрацюєте з натуральною соломою та традиційними техніками плетіння
🔹 Створите власного солом’яного павука, щоб прикрасити оселю на Різдво
