About this Event
FOR THE TORONTO KIDS WHO DUBBED MIXTAPES, LIVED ON CFNY, AND WORE THEIR DOCS INTO THE GROUND.
On Friday, October 2, UK Calling takes over The Concert Hall — one of the most legendary rooms in Canadian music history.
Long before it became the MuchMusic and MTV Temple… before the TV cameras and neon lights… this was the old Masonic Temple. The Rock Pile. The room where Toronto’s underground came alive.
Led Zeppelin played their first-ever Toronto show here in 1969. The Cure, Depeche Mode, The Ramones, David Bowie, Rage Against the Machine, Pearl Jam, and The Smashing Pumpkins all shook these walls before they became legends.
Now UK Calling brings the sound of the UK underground back to the room where it belongs.
If you grew up flipping vinyl at Sam the Record Man, discovering bands through CFNY-FM, taping BBC imports onto cassettes, or skanking to 2 Tone at dark little clubs across the city — this night was made for you.
No costumes.
No backing tracks.
No karaoke nostalgia.
Just the essential anthems of Joy Division, The Clash, Tears for Fears, The Specials, Simple Minds, Madness, Echo & the Bunnymen, New Order and more — played loud, tight, and alive by a powerhouse band fronted by the electric Peter James Fox.
This isn’t an ’80s dress-up act.
It’s post-punk, New Wave, and 2 Tone ska with the urgency, attitude, and atmosphere that made this music matter in the first place.
And there may not be a more perfect room in Canada to hear it.
