Nomint and BBC Creative discuss the challenges and rewards of using stop motion to capture one of nature’s most unpredictable elements: fire
About this Event

Nomint’s Yannis Konstantinidis and BBC Creative’s Jess Oudot talk about the challenges and rewards involved in using stop motion to capture the most unwieldy of natural elements – fire. They get under the skin of the techniques used to celebrate the trailblazing athletes at this year’s Winter Olympics. And why, in the age of AI, the human touch has never been more valuable and important.

Yannis Konstantinidis is the co-founder of the Emmy-winning animation company NOMINT and a renowned director of outrageously ambitious films. Drawn to complex challenges and purpose-driven stories, his work sits at the intersection of craft and innovation. He is best known for his ongoing work with WWF, as well as the recent launch trailer for the BBC’s Winter Olympics programme.

NOMINT is an Emmy-winning animation and production studio based in London, specialising in high-end craft-driven storytelling for advertising and social impact campaigns. Founded 20 years ago, NOMINT is known for its diverse roster of world-class animation directors, moonshot ideas, and borderline-deranged levels of craft.

Jess Oudot is a Creative Director at BBC Creative. In her time at the BBC, she has created work for The Women’s Euros, Glastonbury, Planet Earth III and of course, The Winter Olympics. Previously, she was at Pablo and Mother London, where she worked on Ikea, Stella Artois, Visit Britain and National Art Pass.

BBC Creative is the in-house creative agency for the BBC. It is responsible for the marketing, branding, and advertising of its content, services, and brand. Launched in 2016, it creates campaigns across TV, digital, print, and social media to drive audience engagement and strengthen the BBC's position in popular culture.
