Day 2
Set 1 – Post Signal:
Alberto Cavenati (guitar); Antonis Anissegos (piano); Damir Bacikin (trumpet); Gerhard Gschlössl (trombone); Matthew Bookert (tuba); Daniel Schröteler (drums)
Post Signal is an experiment in sound, balance, and dialogue. Conceived as a double trio – with horns on one side and a rhythm section on the other – the ensemble creates a unique stage where voices collide, drift apart, and find their way back to one another. Drawing inspiration from contemporary concert music, it weaves together asymmetric currents, postmodern atonal harmonies, and constantly shifting layers of sound. Out of these structures, organic improvisation emerges – guided not only by melody and rhythm, but equally by color, texture, and pure sonic imagination.
Set 2 – Chris Pitsiokos (saxophone) solo
Chris Pitsiokos is a New York-born, Berlin-based saxophonist, composer, and improviser. While Pitsiokos does not concern himself with genre, broadly speaking, his music falls under the umbrella of experimentalism, including noise, sound art, improvised music, experimental jazz, free jazz, noise rock, new music, minimal music, drone, and art rock. As a soloist, he has developed a unique voice on the alto saxophone: his expansion of the instrument’s vocabulary has served to multiply its emotive and formal possibilities. He has recorded over 30 albums as a leader or co-leader and appears on many more.
Set 3 – Takase / Erdmann:
Aki Takase (piano); Daniel Erdmann (saxophone)
Following their previous duo repertoires Isn’t it Romantic (released on BMC Records, 2021) and Ellington (released on Enja Records, 2024), Aki Takase and Daniel Erdmann now present their third program, titled Timeless.
This new repertoire consists primarily of original compositions the two have developed over time.
Time serves as the central thread of the program. What is time? What is silence? How elastic is time? Perhaps, with the help of music, we can travel into the future — and into the past.
