About this Event
Benjamin Zephaniah, dub poet, musician, actor and activist, was a Birmingham symbol of creativity and freedom, propelling Brummies further onto the international stage with his prolific and profound poetry. To honour Zephaniah's remarkable 65-year life, a unique memorial has been conceived: The Zephaniah Forest. The Zephaniah Forest will consist of 65 trees, each representing a year of the artist's inspirational life. This living memorial will not be a mere collection of trees, but a community-driven project that embodies Zephaniah's spirit of engagement and artistic expression. The Zephaniah Forest will serve as a living, growing tribute to a man who used his voice to inspire change and creativity. It will provide a space for reflection, education, and continued inspiration, ensuring that Benjamin Zephaniah's legacy continues to flourish in his beloved Birmingham.
