About this Event
Running Time: 70 min
In Italian with English supertitles
In an undefined time and place, three actors decide to perform La Traviata—just the three of them. They have no doubts: the undertaking is worth it, because what matters is the evocative power of theatre. They have no imposing sets, no elaborate costumes, no opera singers, but they do have a story to tell. Stripped of its intrinsic opulence, what remains of the melodrama is the story of Violetta and Alfredo and the famous arias that have made it immortal. Why La Traviata? Because it is the most performed opera in the world and is iconic, decadent, and deeply moving. The text is a pretext, and the loneliness of the three characters is not a limit but the only true reality: in theatre, anything is possible.
Written, directed and performed by Andrea Caldi, Fabio Fassio and Elena Romano
