Join International Artist Linda Hollingshead, well known for her friendly, inspiring & enjoyable workshops, for a travel sketchbook day.
Sketchbooks have been used through the ages in a variety of ways & are a fun, relaxing & liberating way to explore creative expression without the pressure of feeling you have to get things ‘Perfect!’
Cafes and balcony scenes in each country have their own characteristics, and in this workshop, we use these as our focus and inspiration.

Linda shows a colourful illustrative style to walk you through a simple step-by-step process to simplify a scene and translate it into a sketch.

THE ENCHANTED FLOWER BALCONY
Step into the world of expressive sketching and gentle watercolour at our immersive Line and Wash workshop. We explore the charm of a flower-filled balcony through the expressive medium of line and wash. Where you'll learn to sketch elegant architectural details in ink and breathe life into cascading blooms with soft watercolour washes. Whether you're a curious beginner or a seasoned sketcher, this session offers a perfect blend of structure and spontaneity.
A QUIET CAFÉ MOMENT
Slow down and sketch serenity in this calming workshop, where the subject is a peaceful café scene bathed in soft light. With gentle ink lines and delicate watercolour washes, you'll capture the quiet charm of this scene. his session invites you to explore atmosphere, mood, and the beauty of simplicity.
We then apply these methods to work from photo references of a variety of café and balcony scenes
The workshop rounds up with a Q&A session with suggestions for choosing a sketchbook you love & materials for continuing your sketching practice.
Participants will be shown demonstrations & will have guided one-to-one help and advice to achieve successful results. There will be plenty of time to play & draw at your own pace.
The Workshop will involve….
