Join us for an exciting workshop on Transforming Cities with Green Spaces: Benefits, Justice, and Personal Reflections!
Learn about maintaining, preserving, and promoting blue and green infrastructure in urban areas, with a focus on domestic gardens. Discover findings funded by the RECLAIM Network, demonstrating the impact of various garden designs on air quality and temperature regulation.
Activities:
- "Emotional Mapping" Activity: Reflect on why nature and gardens are important to you.
- BreathAware Workshop: Introduction to air pollution and the effect of different somestic garden designs on air pollution and temperature (Clean Air Project funded by RECLAIM Network Plus), including a walk with air pollution monitors to track pollutant concentrations in the surroundings.
- Inspirational talk by our guest speaker Jason Williams from Cloud Gardener UK on how gardening, at any height, can transform urban spaces.
- Exploring Nature's Value: Learn about the intrinsic value of nature and its benefits.
- Discussion Session: Explore green infrastructure, gentrification, and social justice.
Facilitated By:
A multidisciplinary team of senior and early career researchers from the Sustainability Research Institute at the University of East London, in collaboration with EMPath, a non-profit organisation stemming from the H2020 Project Connecting Nature. Special participation by Cloud Gardener UK, showcasing their "gardens in the clouds."
