Castra Leuca Trio was founded in 2018 by Joaquim Pires Nicolas Ramirez Celis and António Pedro Dias. The group uses melodies from the Portuguese Songbook which they transform to create pieces that due to the wealth of content transcend purely traditional music and rather belong in the World Music category.
Castra Leuca Trio has performed at festivals in Portugal (including Festa do Avante Sons da Terra Festival Guitar Festival in Lagoa and Festival Entrelaços) in Spain and France. In 2019 they released their first CD Primeiro Andamento which received excellent reviews from the specialized press and was regularly heard on the radio in Portugal (Antena 1 and Antena 2) Spain the Czech Republic United States Australia Brazil and Colombia .
The second CD of the Castra Leuca Trio will be released in December 2023.
