About this Event
Explore, create, and connect in nature's boundless playground. Our curated day events are designed to immerse you in the beauty of nature while igniting your creative spark.
How do our memories of wild places live in the body? How do they shape the way we move through the world, even when we’re back in the city, on the bus, in front of a screen?
This gentle, creative workshop explores the relationship between nature and memory through visual journalling, guided sensory exercises and a little bit of speculative imagination.
✨ You don’t need to “be good at art” to join – if you can trace a rock and write a few words, you’re in the right place.

About Touch Grass
Touch Grass is an outdoor community for queer women, trans and non-binary people of colour.
We are committed to fostering community growth through outdoor gatherings and wellness-focused trips that encourage us to rekindle our relationship with nature. Our immersive experiences go beyond relaxation—it's about empowerment, wellness, and forging meaningful connections.
Our vision is for queer people of colour to see the outdoors as a space where we belong. A Natural England study found that White people are 70% more likely than Black and Asian people to spend time in the countryside. We want to change this. We deserve to reap the benefits of improved emotional well-being and physical health too.
We believe creativity and nature go hand in hand, which is why most of our events encourage you to embrace nature and your inner creative spirit.

🕑: 02:15 PM - 03:15 PM
Mapping our nature memories
Info: We’ll start with a gentle introduction to visual journalling, with examples of how images, words and shapes can be used to hold memories of time spent outdoors.
Then we’ll move into a guided sensory activity using natural materials (rocks, twigs, twine, leaves) to explore how our bodies remember nature.
From there, you’ll begin creating the outline of your own memory map. This will be a reflective part of the workshop. There'll be gentle prompts to help you recall moments from this year where nature grounded, held or shifted you.
🕑: 03:15 PM - 03:30 PM
Comfort Break
🕑: 03:30 PM - 04:30 PM
Building your visual journal spread
Info: Using pens, pencils and collage materials, you’ll create a visual journal spread based on a favourite memory (or a series of small moments) spent in nature this year. There’ll be the option to add cut-outs of trees, plants and landscapes from a collage pile if that helps bring your memory to life.
We’ll then have an optional sharing circle, where we can lay everyone’s pages together to form one collective “memory map” of the wild places and moments that have held us.
🕑: 04:30 PM - 05:00 PM
Crafting a memory landscape kit
Info: To close, we’ll turn towards the future.
You’ll make your own memory landscape cartography kit – a small, portable container designed to help you collect traces of nature over the coming year. This final section is about preparing ourselves to keep noticing, collecting and honouring our future nature memories, not just the ones we already hold.
