About this Event
Paddle, Laugh & Meet New People 🚣♀️
Looking for a more active, outdoorsy way to meet singles this spring?
Join Toronto Dating Hub for a special Dragon Boat Singles Social in celebration of Asian Heritage Month — designed for active singles or those looking to do something fun, outdoors - beyond the typical bar mixer or speed dating event.
Whether you're completely new to dragon boating or have always been curious to try it, this is a fun, beginner-friendly opportunity to experience the sport in a relaxed and social environment.
Dragon boating is all about teamwork, energy, and shared experience — which makes it a surprisingly great way to break the ice and meet new people naturally.
*To curate a high quality group of singles, you must have at least FOUR of the following criteria (you will indicate this in the order form):
- 💕 Serious about dating and looking for a long-term relationship
- 🎓 Graduated from a college or university program
- 🏡 Lives independently (renting or owning)
- 💼 Has 5+ years of experience in their career or field
- 💰 Annual income of approximately $75K+
- 🌟 Passionate and purposeful about their work/career
- 🧘 Lives & values a healthy, active lifestyle
- ❤️ Emotionally mature and has past experience in meaningful relationships
If you’re unsure whether this event is the right fit, feel free to email us or book a consult beforehand. 😊
What to Expect 🚣♀️💬☀️
- Beginner-friendly dragon boat experience — no experience needed
- Intro to paddling, teamwork & safety from experienced coaches
- Time on the water paddling together as a team (with rotations) 🌊
- Shore-side mingling before, between & after boat sessions 🍹
- Light refreshments included
- Fun, social, active atmosphere with a healthy-lifestyle crowd
- Great for solo attendees — many people come on their own 😊
Each dragon boat fits up to 20 paddlers at a time, so attendees may rotate between paddling and mingling onshore throughout the experience. This actually creates more natural opportunities to meet and connect with different people throughout the event.
Why Dragon Boat? 🐉
Dragon boating is one of Toronto’s most iconic summer community sports and has deep cultural roots across many Asian communities.
Unlike traditional mixers where conversations can sometimes feel forced, dragon boating creates connection naturally through teamwork, shared energy, laughter, and being outdoors together.
It’s active, social, beginner-friendly, and surprisingly fun — especially for people who’ve always been curious to try it but didn’t want the pressure of joining a competitive team.
As the team at Water Vipers puts it: dragon boating is about synchronization, connection, community, and loving being on the water. 🌊
Only 26 spots in total to keep it intimate!
Our tickets tend to sell out quickly so to allow others the opportunity to join AND to curate more variety for each event, attendees are only allowed to attend UP TO 3 of our singles events PER MONTH (only 1 speed dating event within that). Please email [email protected] to get approval to attend more than 3 events before purchasing more tickets. Thanks for allowing others to experience our events and to meet that special someone!
✨ *Please note: These criteria are intended as a guideline to help us curate a fun, respectful, and high-quality group of singles. We do not fact-check or verify the personal information provided by attendees, but we trust guests to be honest and come with the right intentions. The event experience depends on everyone’s participation, and while we aim to gather like-minded singles, we cannot guarantee specific outcomes, matches, or personal compatibility. What we can promise is a great vibe, a chance to meet interesting & likeminded people, and the possibility of sparks flying!

- Beginners curious about dragon boating
- Those who value health, community, personal growth & shared experiences

Do I need dragon boat experience?
Not at all — this event is specifically designed for beginners. If you are advanced, perfect, you can help others (and impress your potential date).
Do I need to be super athletic? Do I need to know how to swim?
No. 😊 You do not need to be an athlete or experienced paddler. If you enjoy being active, outdoors, or trying new experiences, you’ll fit right in.
Everyone needs to wear a life jacket to go on the boat/water regardless of your swimming level. You will also get training and safety protocols. However, if you have an extreme fear of the water, this may not be the best event for you and you can try our other events.
Can I come alone?
Absolutely — many attendees come solo, and the event is designed to make mingling feel natural and comfortable.
What if I don’t want to paddle the entire time?
That’s completely okay. Some attendees may choose to paddle once and spend more time socializing onshore with refreshments and conversation.
What should I wear?
Athletic or comfortable casual clothing recommended. Think: activewear, runners, sunglasses, swim wear, layers, sunscreen, etc. You should be prepared to get splashed or fall in the water - all things are possible. 💦
What happens if it rains?
Paddling happens rain or shine. ☔
The event would only be cancelled/rescheduled in cases of unsafe weather conditions (lightning, flooding, high winds/waves, etc) and you will be notified no later than 7am on May 31.
The rain date is June 7 from 10am-1pm.
Will there be food or drinks?
Light refreshments will be provided. Please feel free to bring more snacks/food as you'd like so you have energy to paddle/connect.
Is this competitive?
Not at all. This is a social, recreational experience focused on fun, connection, and trying something new together.
Do you pre-screen attendees or offer matchmaking?
We don’t pre-screen/interview participants for this event, but attendees self-identify posessing the required criteria during ticket registration. While we curate based on these criteria, individual personal preferences, compatibility, and chemistry cannot be guaranteed. (Other premium events may include additional pre-screening.)
What if I don’t meet anyone I like (romantically)?
Not every event will produce a romantic match — but there are other valuable outcomes:
- Platonic friendships or people to hang out with
- Opportunities to refine what you want from dating or a partner
- Social skills practice in a fun environment
- Trying new experiences or venues (wine tastings, jet skis, unique locations)
What if someone makes me uncomfortable or is disrespectful?
Please let us know immediately during or within 24 hrs after the event so we can act swiftly. Actions may include addressing the individual in question, offering guidance, or restricting future attendance.
