Want to know Amsterdam's hidden history? Want to impress your friends with fun facts whenever you're out for a walk? Or simply looking for an excuse to go on a Sunday adventure? This walking tour is for you.
On this walk through Amsterdam's inner city, we will discuss:
- Amsterdam's early beginnings
- The city's century-long struggle with water
- Its rise to a global power
- Its colonial legacy
- the Red Light District - past and present
- Coffeeshops
- Rembrandt
- WWII history
We will see the following highlights:
- Central Station
- The Hidden Church: Our Lord in the Attic
- The He Hua Bhuddist Temple
- The Medieval City Gate turned Anatomical Theatre
- Rembrandt's House
- The Dancing Houses of Amsterdam
- The Royal Palace
We will walk for about 2-2.5 hours, depending on traffic and the weather, and at the end, you'll never look at the city centre the same. I promise.
As a bonus, I've got plenty of personal recommendations to share. Coffee, beer, or sandwich: I know just where to send you!
`Only downside: places are few. This walk happens only once a week, and the group size is limited to just 15. Make sure you book your tickets early!
