Timbre Trio: Celebrating Women’s Stories Through Music and Song
Timbre Trio, featuring Greg Hutton on the hammered dulcimer, weaves luminous three-part harmonies with traditional folk and original contemporary songs that explore history, myth, and memory.
The Performance
Celebrating Women’s Stories Through Music and Song is a moving journey through love, loss, resilience, and empowerment in honor of Women’s History Month. From tender ballads and songs of steadfast devotion, to sharp reflections on cultural expectations, to bold narratives of feminine strength, this evocative concert shines a spotlight on the depth and enduring influence of women’s voices, past and present.
About the Artists
Established in 2024, Timbre Trio is a Washington-based ensemble of classically trained sopranos who bring a unique wealth of life experience to their music. The trio features:
- Robin A. Pennington: A retired supervisory mathematical statistician for the federal government, Robin now lends her precision and passion to ensembles across the DC area and serves as a staff singer at St. Peter's on Capitol Hill.
- Tammy Rogers: A dedicated choral performer throughout the DC metro area, Tammy balances her musical life with a career in library administration at George Mason University.
- Eileen West: Both an internal medicine/women’s health physician and a trained singer, Eileen brings a deep appreciation for physical and spiritual wellness to the stage. She also serves on the Board of Dirctors of the Washington Master Chorale.
Together with Greg Hutton, whose hammered dulcimer provides a shimmering, percussive foundation, they craft an "enchanted" melodic experience that bridges the gap between choral discipline and folk storytelling.
