About this Event

Living History: How We Survived

Part One of the Living History Series

Moderated by Abby Stuckrath, Queering the District Podcast

Join us for the first gathering in a four-part LGBTQ+ intergenerational storytelling series centering the voices of local elders, icons, and activists.

In How We Survived, we will explore what it meant to build community before apps, before visible safe spaces, and before broader cultural acceptance. Together, we’ll reflect on how queer people found one another, created resilience through humor and connection, navigated code-switching and risk, and what lessons from those years remain vital today.

This evening is about honoring lived experience, preserving community memory, and strengthening the bridge between generations.

Come listen, learn, and be part of a conversation that connects our past to our future.
