About this Event
In this fun, hands-on course for both abstract and realism artists, learn the hidden structure behind powerful images. Through simple exercises, master artwork examples, and creative practice, we’ll explore balance, focal points, movement, and the famous golden ratio — all in an approachable, no-pressure kind of way.
Perfect for new artists, this class will help you to make stronger compositions, have more confident in your choices, and create artwork that truly holds attention.
We'll also look at great artists and how they used composition in their own work.
Topics covered:
- balance
- focal point
- color
- unity
- positive and negative space
- movement and rhythm
- shape relationships
- creating depth
- visual impact
- clarity and intention
Students will walk away with the skills they need for creating stronger compositions — regardless of what medium or style they work in. Most importantly, students will find confidence to make bold, thoughtful design choices in their own artwork.
Come ready to experiment, sketch, and see your art in a whole new way!
