About this Event
After powerful audience responses and moving feedback from previous performances, this unforgettable theatre production returns to continue an important conversation.
Come witness a compelling live theatre experience that explores the realities, silences, and emotional impact surrounding Black motherhood and the families navigating unimaginable loss.
✨ About the Play
Umbilical – Born Black! Borne Silent! shines a spotlight on a devastating but often overlooked reality: the disproportionately high rates at which Black women experience complications, death, and loss during and after childbirth.
Through the voices of Papa Elijah, Duane, and Zion, three generations of Black men, the story unfolds as they confront grief, love, responsibility, and the strength required to carry forward after tragedy. Their stories reveal how loss ripples through families, challenging silence and calling for awareness and change.
